International Vision / Future of Nangang “Nangang 2050” Urban Regeneration Forum concluded successfully

Taipei City Urban Development Department successfully concluded Nangang 2050 Urban Regeneration Forum at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall on August 14-15, 2010. This forum hosted by Chien-yuan Lin, one of Taipei City Deputy Mayors, forum, invited the participating students from National Chiao Tung University, London Architectural Association School of Architecture, National Taipei University, Delft University of Technology, King's College London, Ku Leuven, National Cheng Kung University, University of Washington, University of California, Berkeley, National Taipei University of Technology, and University of Tokyo.


In the forum, each team presented different schemes in different aspects to the Nangang development, such as creative city, new urban governance, eco-city, transportation oriented development, etc. Taipei City Deputy Mayor Lin appreciated that each school was so able, generating a lot of detail plans in a very short period of time which represent many possibilities for the City of Taipei. Moreover, the teams teamed up by domestic and foreign schools wonderfully conducted proposals toward an ideal Taipei. It also provides a good opportunity to make Taipei better known by the world.


Today, we explored unlimited possibilities for the development of Nangang, with the help of people who attended the forum. This was also a very precious experience of planning Nangang development through global participation, successfully meeting the objectives and building connections with its surrounding communities for the future.


Deputy Mayor Lin stated that, Nangang 2050 Regeneration forum is part of Taipei International Co-workshops by Universities Grant Program, and today's forum is midterm report, in October of this year, each team will present its final assignment.
