“Urban Renewal requires everyone to participate”. The Taipei City Government knows that buildings in the old communities are insufficient in disaster prevention, and thus it has never halted its progress in urban renewal. Besides amending acts on urban renewal and improving the efficiency in urban renewal consideration, the government has established “NPO Urban Redevelopment Delivery Center Taipei City” last year to assists people who have questions on urban renewal.
Urban Regeneration Office (URO), Taipei City expressed that the urban renewal project involves a large number of landowners, and the urban renewal considerations are usually delayed by the time used for the coordination between implementers and landowners. Thus, during the process of urban renewal, the implementers have to spend more time and efforts on communicating with the landowners. The Taipei City Government has continued to actively assist the implementers on having proper communication and coordination with the landowners. Taipei City has established “NPO Urban Redevelopment Delivery Center Taipei City” last year. The purposes of this center are to provide professional techniques to assist urban renewal of the communities, encourage private sectors to build their own renewal modes and assist renewing the exterior of the houses and renewing the houses in coastal regions.
URO further expressed that urban renewal is one of the Taipei City Government’s major governance projects. Besides continuously suggesting the central government to amend the acts on urban renewal, Taipei City Government has also carried out other measures to enhance the efficiency of urban renewal process, including amending city acts on urban renewal, strengthening urban renewal acts and mechanisms, providing urban renewal subsidy annually, and offering various ways for publics to carry out the urban renewal. Taipei City Government has also established a review team last year, which not only ensures the rights of every participant, but also enhances the efficiency in urban renewal consideration. It is to create a multi-win situation for every participant in urban renewal.
