Dalongdong public housing provides quality living environment with reasonable rental fees
Dalongdong public housing is Taipei’s beacon to public housing. According to the Department of Urban Development, Taipei City Government, they wish to create a new quality environment image of public housing. Other than the new green architectural design, they’ve used new property management in the hope of providing residents with the best living quality. When the Department of Urban Development was setting the housing rental fees, they set it under the fundamental principle of “user charges” and “reasonable rental fees”. Furthermore, they also took nearby rental fees of buildings with elevators into consideration. The rental fee for Dalongdong community is still considered lower compared to nearby housing with similar living quality.
The Department of Urban Development stated that there have been thousands of applicants ever since they started taking applications in October, 2011. The community has received positive reactions from citizens. Up until today there are still citizens calling to ask about the details of the community.
However, the Department of Urban Development has pointed out that there are still a few applicants who have given up the Dalongdong housing due to personal reasons after having been accepted. They gave up the Dalongdong public housing for reasons such as unexpired lease and the possibility of losing their deposit.
The one-room model of the Dalongdong public housing has been the most popular model of all. The original design aimed to supply housing for those whose house went under urban redevelopment; hence, the majority of three-room models are more suitable for applicants with families. However, in this case, the lower pings houses are more suitable for the younger population’s demand. The Department of Urban Development will keep this experience in mind when planning future public housing projects. The number of one-room model houses will be increased and rental fees will still be kept reasonable to satisfy citizens’ need in the future.
The Department of Urban Development further states that the Dalongdong community is trying a new Rental Management System. The system requires the residents to follow the community rules, and implements a violation point system. A property management provides the residents with quality maintenance service. Today the Dalongdong community is providing its residents with a safe, comfortable and quality living environment. In the future, several public housing projects will continue to be planned and constructed to give our citizens a higher living quality.
