The Department of Urban Development, Taipei City Government began the International Co-workshop by University/NPO Grant Program since 2010. The program attracted participants from Europe, America, Australia, Japan, Korea…etc. In order to help with Taipei City’s bidding for 2016 World Design Capital, Non-profit organization is included for subsidy for the very first time. Taipei’s planning ability is hoped to increase with different viewpoint. This will be the midterm presentation for the 3rd year of the program. More and more creative city design and planning is brought forward through idea exchanging, thus making Taipei City an even more fascinating city.
The midterm presentation of 2012 International Co-workshop by University/NPO Grant Program on July 27th and July 28th 2012 raised three main subjects. An-Khan Public Housing with friendly and universal design by Chung Yuan Christian University, Organization of Urban Re-s, and professional group from Netherlands. Chinese Culture University and Chaoyang University of Technology combined academic research from Japan, Korea, Italy, and Australia to propose a living space design for Yangmingshan Yangte Avenue and Zhongshan North Road area while keeping the goal of 2016 World Design Capital bid in mind. GIUP worked with groups from United Kingdom, Belgium, and Netherlands to come up with development plan at Grand National Palace Museum using a cultural, creative and industrial concept.
The two-day midterm presentation of 2012 International Co-workshop by University/NPO Grant Program ended with great success. The result presentation and exhibition from each group will be held later on in mid November. Participations and suggestions are again warmly welcomed. The Department of Urban Development expects to apply ideas generated from the program into related urban planning, making Taipei City a livable city with friendly and multicultural design.
