Taipei City Government proposed to renew programs of action and to comprehensively start 48 innovative services
Taipei City Government’s City Executive Meeting ratified the “Taipei City Urban Regeneration Action Plan” on December 17th. This action plan will help remove urban regeneration obstacles by proposing four major goals: Positive, Livable, Performance, and Charity. Through 8 tactics and 48 other action plans, the plan also seeks to strengthen integration mechanisms, build diverse programs to improve the system, enhance performance, protect public interest, and boost the effectiveness of urban renewal.
Major Hau has expressed that a number of proposals and projects in the past have had the led to a loss of confidence in city regenerating planning among residents. To improve and enhance all aspects of new regeneration plans, the city government will adopt a “responsible and positive commitment” attitude to help the residents get through the tough time. City Hall has never stopped its effort in applying positive changes upon several regeneration problems. Not only has the government made relevant suggestions on the implementation of the Urban Renewal Act, but also made conversations with diverse societal groups to show respect for different values.
Deputy Mayor Chang has invited professionals from the fields of education, residential development, and urban renewal promotion, as well as Taipei City Hall departments of finance, urban development, construction management and urban regeneration, to form “Taipei City Urban Renewal Task Force.” A total of ten conference seminars have been conducted since its inception in May 17, 2013. These conferences comprehensively positioned the city as a basis for future innovative urban renewal plans, in the belief that the new opportunities brought on by the new urban generation plans will drive more confidence in the private sector.
Director Lin from Taipei City Urban Regeneration Office pointed out that these action plans will assist communities through professional counseling, creation of consultative mechanisms, development of diverse urban renewal program, strengthening of urban renewal laws, and protection of the interests of participating parties, as well as the implementation of a humanistic community. All in all, these plans will cooperatively solve and regenerate the old community problems. He stated that urban renewal is an inevitable means of urban development. Taipei City Government will be more dynamic, positive, and forward-looking to promote more innovative services in order to gather regeneration consensus. Through the rational use of land, urban functions recovery and improvement of living environment will enhance the public interest.
